VLO Interlining has made a large investment in high production equipment for punched taping, and so we have created Perfuratta®, made with outstanding quality products.
Perfuratta® is for all weavers who use punched tapes in a number of perforations, up to 150mm width.
They can be used in polo shirts, pants waistband, blazer hemline and shirts, among others. They can also work as a sewing and folding guideline, proving excellent finishing.
This new technology makes VLO unique in punched taping, in all the product line.
Three factors should be taken into consideration when choosing an interlining. They are:
1) The textile: We should first consider the fabric being interlined, for characteristics of each textile (composition, shrinking ratio, finishing, reaction to heat, etc.) may mimic the interlining and the textile.
2) The piece part to be interlined: It is vital to consider separately each part to be interlined in order to make the best choice, since each piece part has a different function and a specific finishing.
3) The final product: Since the interlining can alter significantly a fabric look, one must bear in mind which fitting is desired. For instance, a heavier and embodied piece requires a firmer interlining, while a lighter and smoother piece calls for a lighter interlining.
Uncoated interlining: The interlining is attached to the fabric through seams. The ideal process is tacking both parts and later sewing it definitely, thus avoiding the fabric and the interlining to disassemble, which would give the final product a wrinkled look.
Coated interlining: Thermoplastic adhesive interlining must follow the fusion terms as indicated by the manufacturer. They are:
Timing: May vary according to the adhesive and corresponds to the length the fabric and the interlining will remain in the fusion process.
Temperature: Each type of adhesive requires a specific temperature.
Pressure: The thermo-adhesive interlining process requires pressure to apply the interlining to the fabric.
The thermo-adhesive process may be done in splicer, electric press, industrial iron, clothes iron (in this case, we highlight the interlining must never be ironed, but applied little by little, pressuring each of the points to be interlined).
It is of utmost importance that these three aspects (Timing, Temperature and Pressure) combine in order to get the desired final result.
